Former Nigeria U-23 Eagles captain, Azubuike Okechukwu says he is ready to make his loan deal at Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir permanent.
The 22-year-old joined the Super Lig outfit from Egyptian club Pyramids FC on a season-long loan last year.
The former Bayelsa United midfielder has gone on to become a key component of the side making 30 appearances across all competitions so far.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Wednesday, the midfielder revealed that he’s willing to stay beyond his current loan at the club, insisting that talks will ensue if normalcy returns to the world of football.
“After the lockdown, I think I’ll stay back at Basaksehir. I’m on a loan for a season with an option to buy so I don’t think that I will go back to Egypt. We have spoken about it so after this pandemic things will be sorted out.”
The former Caykur Rizespor of Turkey player, who last featured for the Super Eagles under Samson Siasia in 2016, also added that he’s not ruling out a return to the Nigeria national team.
“It’s the dream of every player to play in the national team but I also realize that we have so many good players in my position like Wilfred Ndidi so I have to work very hard. Hopefully, that will be enough to earn me an invitation to the Super Eagles.
