Age fears? Olowookere admits some U17 girls will be overage before qualifiers if ‘pandemic delay’ continues

Coach of Nigeria’s U17 women national team Bankole Olowookere has lamented the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Flamingoes FIFA U17 women world cup qualification in the areas of their ages.

According to him, if the competition does not hold by November which is suppose to be its original date, it might make some of his players who are eligible to play in this category turn overage.
Olowookere in a chat with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comexclusively stated that, though if that happens it will also make him do what he knows how to do best which is the grass-root search and develop like he has been doing before now.
“The postponement might later affect the world cup by November and that’s my fear, and again you know some players that are eligible from now till December might not be eligible again, but above all I still thank God that we are alive,”
“But notwithstanding if some of them grow overage and are not be eligible for the competition, it gives room for development because I’m a grass-roots coach so, it also makes me seek another hidden talents in the parts of the country into the team,” he said.
