I never knew I’d play professional football – Chikatara

El Gaesh of Egypt’s Nigerian import, Chisom Chikatara has revealed that he never knew he would end up playing football at a professional level.

The 2016 CHAN Eagles player told brila.net that he simply enjoyed playing football and was just fortunate to have met some key people like former Super Eagles’ coaches, Sunday Oliseh and Salisu Yusuf.
“When I was growing up, I played and was in various academys but I never knew I would become a professional footballer as I never planned it this way. I feel it was God’s grace and he also brought people my way who helped me mentally and physically.
Even when I moved to Abia Warriors, many of my teammates gave me a reason to play football.  Given my performance at club level, I was handed a chance by Coach Oliseh and Coach Salisu to play in CHAN. Was called up for U17, U20, and U23 but all never worked out. I just feel God’s time is the best.”
Chisom Chikatara played club football in Nigeria with Abia Warriors and also had a stint in Morocco with Wydad Casablanca.
