Super Eagles and Arsenal legend Kanu Nwankwo has thrown his support behind Alex Iwobi, following the young winger’s move to Everton on Thursday.
Iwobi ended his 16 years association with Gunners to agreed to a five-year contract with Marco Silva’s men in a deal worth £40 million ($49m) and Kanu said he will continue to be a fan in a tweet.
“Once a Gunner, always a Gunner. We are proud of you Alex Iwobi and will continue to support you. Good luck with your new club,” he tweeted.
Iwobi went on to make 148 appearances, scoring 15 goals winning one FA Cup and two FA Community Shields in his 16 years stay at the Club.
The 2019 African Cup of Nations bronze medalist decided to quit the Unai Emery’s side following the arrival of Nicolas Pepe from Lille.
The transfer to the Mersysider made him the most Nigerian player ever.
