Karate – I want to quit the Sport on a high, says Godfirst Samson

National Karate Champion Godfirst Samson says she hoping to reach great heights in the sport before she calls time on the mat.

In a chat with brila.net Godfirst share her ambitions as one of Nigeria’s rising Karatekas and despite the perceived challenges that lay ahead as a female athlete, the 18-year-old is hoping to finish on the high.
‘I started Karate because I loved it. I went professional rather than just for self-defense. I hope the spark I found carries on burning, but as a female, I know there are limitations, but before then I hope to have achieved a lot.
‘If and when I decide to leave I want it to come naturally and not be forced by any circumstance,’ she explained.
