Live From Poland: Ex-Tunisia Coach Kasperczak Hails Eagles As ‘Dark Horses of Russia 2018’; Set For Analysis As TV Pundit

Former Poland international and African football veteran‎ coach, Henryk Kasperczak, has described the Super Eagles as the dark horses of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and will do more  analysis of the Gernot Rohr’s  team as an expert analyst for Polish national television station, TVP, during Friday’s Poland-Nigeria pre-World Cup  friendly match in Wroclaw, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Polish veteran journalist, ‎Michal Zichlarz, who spoke with Kasperczak ahead of the friendly match, told Completesportsnigeria.com that the former coach of  five different  African teams was confident that  Super Eagles have the potential to surprise the world with great showing at the  2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Kasperczak handled the national teams of Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia (two stints), Morocco, Mali and Senegal at different periods, the last being a second stint with The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia which he took to the 2017 ‎Africa Cup of Nations. He won AFCON Bronze with Cote d’Ivoire in 1994, Silver with Tunisia in 1996 and fourth-place finish as Mali coach in 2002.
“Before the draw of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, I met with Henryk Kasperczak in Krakow, and I asked him what he thought about the chances of the five  African teams in the World Cup,” Zichlarz, also an author of  a book African football, ‘Afryka Gola’, told CSN.
“He specifically said that Senegal was a stron‎g team and described Nigeria as dark horses of the tournament .
“He was of the opinion that a change of  the generation of players in the Super Eagles has seen very promising players coming through. He was quite positive that Super Eagles have good chances of doing well at the World Cup in Russia‎.
“I spoke to Kasperczak‎ a couple of days ago. He said that last year, when he was in charge of Tunisia during the last Africa Cup of Nations, he was also monitored how the Super Eagles were faring. He had good opinion of the Super Eagles as potential big opponents.”
Zichlarz added: “Kasperczak is based in France right now where his family lives too. He was invited by the  Polish public television station, TVP, to be ‎ it’s expert analyst for this important international friendly match with Nigeria. I also asked him if he would also be around for Poland’s next friendly match, but said no. He will go back to France immediately after this Poland-Nigeria match in Wroclaw.
“He told me as well, that he has new offers  ‎from some African football federations. So it’s possible that very soon, he will again be on the bench of another African team as manager, but he didn’t mention which Federations have contacted him.”
