Lobi Stars head coach Gbenga Ogunbute says its too early for his team to be tagged as favorites to claim this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League title.
Ogunbute’s side defeated bitter rivals Nasarawa United in matchday 17 of the Nigerian professional football league clash at the Aper Aku stadium to open up a two points lead at the summit.
While reacting to the result, Ogunbote said his team is not favorable for the title and stressed that they will take each game as they come.
‘I think it’s too early to start labeling a team as favorite because we still have so many matches to play [we have not even reached the halfway line yet] and we still have teams with outstanding matches including us.
‘We can only begin to label a team title favorite when everyone is at par in terms of matches played.
‘We are going to take the matches one at a time, so far we are doing good and we will keep fighting hard to stay at the top.’ Ogunbute said.
Despite managing the likes of Rangers International, Enyimba, Sunshine Stars, Ogunbote is yet to win the league title, his solitary career trophy came when he led the flying Antelopes to the 2018 Aiteo Cup.
