Los Angeles Galaxy releases Former England defender Ashley Cole

MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy has released former England, Chelsea, and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole.

Los Angeles announced that it exercised the 2019 options on four players Monday. Cole was not included in that group.

 

The team is bringing back midfielder Sebastian Lletget, defender Daniel Steres, midfielder Bradford Jamieson IV and goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg.

 

The Major League Soccer club did not pick up the options for Cole, defender Michael Ciani, goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre, forward Ariel Lassiter, defender Sheanon Williams, defender Rolf Feltscher, midfielder Baggio Husidic, and midfielder Servando Carrasco.

 

Los Angeles is still in negotiations with midfielder Chris Pontius, defender Dave Romney, and midfielder Emmanuel Boateng.

 

Cole, 37, began his senior career in 1999 with Arsenal. He went on loan with Crystal Palace in 2000 before returning to the Gunners until 2006.

 

Cole was with Chelsea from 2006 to 2014 before joining AS Roma from 2014 to 2016. He came to the MLS in 2016,
