The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, (NSCDC) has arrested a man for allegedly difiling a four-month-Old baby and three other minors at Adogi, Lafia Local Government Area of the State.

Parading the alleged rapist on behalf of the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mamud Gidado Fari, the Deputy Commandant Bisi Olugbuyega, said the suspect, Ahmadu Yaro a native of Adogi confessed to have defiled Rakiya and three other minors on May 27 .

The Deputy Commandant said after committing the act ,the suspect went into hiding until he was arrested June 22.

Olugbenga ,said :‘In his confessional statement, the suspect confessed that he picked the daughter of Mr & Mrs Hashimu Aliyu beside her mother while she was sleeping . He said he took the girl to an uncompleted building opposite Government Secondary School in Adogi where he he spread his shirt in the ground and forcefully penetrated the minor.
“The suspect further confessed that, while committing the act, he heard the sound of a motorcycle coming toward his direction; he abandoned the baby and took to his heels . Since then, he has never visited Adogi until the time of his arrest.

“The defilement of the latest victim is the fourth (4) one. Which means, he had defiled three others in the past and the ages of his victims in the past ranges between three months, one year and five months”.

The suspect, Amadu Yaro, 27 confessed to newsmen to have committed the crime but attributed it to the handiwork of the devil claiming that he was suffering from psychological problem.

Mother of the four- months-old- baby, Maimuna Aliyu, narrated how her baby was stolen while she was asleep around 3am and taken to an uncompleted building where she was defiled.

She said :”The suspect tore my baby’s Virgina . Her condition was serious ,so we rushed her to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, (DASH), Lafia ,but the hospital referred us to another hospital where the First Lady of Nasarawa State intervened and started shouldering the expenses on my child’s health.

Meanwhile ,the Programme Director of Justice and Security Dialogue, Mrs. Kemakolam Isioma, has called for a stiffer punishment against rapists in the country.

She noted that those who defile children and other minors should not be treated with kids gloves as issues of rapes is giving the country a bad name.

Mrs. Isioma in a press statement issued in Jos said the Organization has trained 40 persons in Plateau to handle issues of sexual and gender based violence.

She noted that the training became imperative due to the increasing cases of rape and evil trend prevalent among youths as well as the elderly who often take advantage of minors and teenage girls.

She explained that the horrific trend which has in recent times been making headlines has caused a national outcry that has attracted government attention as well as other stakeholders.
