Marco Silva says Iwobi not ready for Everton debut

Everton boss Marco Silva says new signing Alex Iwobi is not ready for his debut, but insists the attacker is working his way to full fitness.

The 23-year-old moved to Goodison Park from Arsenal on a five-year deal, but missed his new Club first two premier league matches , haven arrived late to his former club’s ( Arsenal) pre season training tour , due to his involvement in the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt with the Nigerian national team.

Speaking Ahead of Friday’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa at Villa Park, Silva said the Nigerian is short of top match fitness and he’s gradually working hard to be ready for his debut.

“He is looking forward to that [making his Everton debut]. He started [pre-season] late, this is just his second week working with the team,” Silva said.

“We have to take care of the situation and give him enough time to get fitter. He is getting better and if I decide he will be ready, then he will give that high quality. I have no doubt about that.”

In Iwobi’s absence , Everton has won just a game and drawn the other , but has a chance to secure another win against struggling Dean Smith’s men at Villa Park on Friday.
