Mikel Obi believes Eagles can handle Bafana Bafana

Super Eagles captain and midfielder, John One Mikel has submitted ahead of the team’s quarterfinal match against South Africa tomorrow in Cairo at the ongoing Egypt 2019 AFCON that the team is very focused, although majority of fans and pundits are tipping the Eagles as favourites against the Bafana Banana.

Three-time champions Nigeria have arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo ahead of Wednesday’s potentially –explosive AFCON 2019 quarter-final clash with 1996 champions South Africa at the Cairo International Stadium.

Conquerors of Cup holders Cameroon in the Round of 16 in a game played in Alexandria on Saturday, the Super Eagles have taken abode at the posh Meridien Heliopolis in one of the largest cities on the African continent.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Mikel, however, added that they can handle the pressure, while they look to play well, not just against South Africa tomorrow, but during the entire tournament.

“We are focused, everyone is saying we are the favourites but we don’t want to look at it like that, we just have to focus on what we have to do”.

“The pressure is always there, this is what we do for a living and we know how to cope with it so hopefully we can give our best, play well not just against South Africa, but in this tournament and do great things”.

A win for the Super Eagles would set up a semifinal clash against either Algeria or Cote’D Ivoire.
