Former Super Eagles midfielders John Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi were both missing in Trabzonspor’s 4-1 win over Kayode Olarenwaju’s Gaziantep FK in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig game.
While Mikel was missing from action due to the groin injury he sustained in the team’s training on Friday, another Nigerian on the payroll of the Club Anthony Nwakaeme was on parade for the entirety of the game.
Former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge made it 1 – 0 for the home side after 9th minutes after he was set up by Alexander Sorloth.
Sturridge returned the favor in the 14 minutes as Alexander Sorloth made it 2 – 0.
Jefferson reduced the deficit for Gaziantep FK in the 54th minutes, but Jose Sosa restored Trabzonspor’s two goals advantage.
Yusuf Sari completed the rout and made it 4-1 with nine minutes left on the clock, from Nwakaeme’s assist.
Meanwhile, there was still time for more drama with few minutes left, Kayode Olarenwaju was given straight red to compound the woes of Marius Sumudica’s men.
