A Muslim cleric has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 29-year-old student of College of Education, Akoka, Lagos.

The cleric (Imam), simply identified as Hammad had deceived his victim that he saw a vision for her and that she was going to die within 24 hours if she was not exorcised of the spirit of death.
Fearing that she may die, the victim followed the cleric to a place where he claimed he would exorcise the spirit of death and at the place, the cleric allegedly raped the victim.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal who paraded the suspect, he said the suspect deceived his victim and took her to Ikorodu where the evil act was perpetrated.

“On the 1 July 25, a case of sexual assault by penetration from Bariga Police Station was brought to the Gender Section for further investigation.
“The suspect in the case, Hammed who claims to be an Alfa deceived a 29-year-old student of College of Education Akoka that he saw a vision that she was going to die within 24 hours. He took the girl to Ikorodu, for spiritual cleansing so that she would not die. At Ikorodu, he forcefully had carnal knowledge of the girl who was a virgin as at the time.
“He thereafter wiped off her blood with a white handkerchief and since then, the girl has been behaving abnormally.T he girl is completely devastated and traumatized by the incident. She has been receiving treatment and undergoing canceling. She was introduced to the Alpha by a friend. We are investigating to know how many people that the Alpha has hoodwinked”.
He warned people to be careful of fake men of God that claim they have prophecies for people.
“The suspect will be charged to court at the end of the investigation, he said.
Also paraded alongside the cleric were three suspects arrested with 16 cartons of prohibited drugs.
The CP revealed that the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence gathered by the undercover operatives of the Command, that some unscrupulous persons use Iddo Motor Park, Yaba, Oyingbo as a major transit point for the distribution of hard drugs to various parts of the country and neighboring countries.
“I directed the FSARS operatives to beam its searchlight on the aforementioned motor park.
“On the July 1, the team gathered that a Fiat Ducarto Bus with Reg. No. FKJ -303-XQ was loaded with substances suspected to be hard drugs.
“The operative swung into action and arrested three suspects with four cartons of Tramadol, five cartons of Analgin injection, four cartons of Amcloxin capsules and three cartons of Lumatem capsules.”
Imohimi said that investigation was ongoing with a view to arresting all the perpetrators of the crime for prosecution.
