Namibia will join the All Blacks in Pool B at next year’s Rugby World Cup after thrashing Kenya 53-28 in their Africa Gold Cup match in Windhoek on Saturday.
The Namibians won all five of their qualifying matches and reached the World Cup in Japan as Africa winners.
They join New Zealand, South Africa, Italy and a yet to be determined repechage winner in the group.
Meanwhile, Tunisia defeated Morocco by Tunisia 36-13 Morocco, while Zimbabwe maintained their Africa Rugby Tier 1A status with a dominant 38-18 win over erratic Uganda Cranes.
Morocco is hereby relegated to next year’s Africa Silver Cup, whilst the winner of the 2018 Africa Silver Cup to be determined next weekend (Saturday 25 August) will gain promotion to Africa Gold Cup.
Nigeria hopes to regain its Bronze Cup slot after its return from suspension with a life line offer, if it wins the Africa Regional Sevens Tournament in Ivory Coast next month (September 13 – 16) which is also a pre-Olympic qualifiers.
