National Table Tennis coach Nosir Bello has stated that Nigeria’s world junior table tennis championship bound team that conquered Africa last month in Ghana is the next generation to take over from Segun Toriola, Funke Oshonaike and others and has backed the players in the team to continue to improve.
Bello speaking in a chat with www.brila.net while taking an assessment and projection into the immediate future of Table Tennis in Nigeria said the current set of players have shown promise and achieving consistency at the U21 level is key because it’s the intermediate level between playing directly at the senior level to the junior level.
“Nigeria has qualified the junior boys, cadet boys and girls for the coming world junior championship so we don’t have any problem and I am talking with confidence that these boys and girls are equal to the task.
They are the new generation that will take over from Segun Toriola and co because U21 is an intermediate level that takes you straight to the senior level.”
Bello backs the team to also impress at the world junior championship in the coming months.
