National wrestling coach set to build on African Championship success

Head Coach of Nigeria’s female Wrestling contingent, Purity Akur has stated that the next move would be to have a small training camp where the contingent can review the performance of each wrestler at the Africa Wrestling Championship held in Tunisia.

Speaking with brila.net, Purity noted that it would be in the best interest of each wrestler and the coaches to know the mistakes made and make necessary corrections ahead of the All Africa Games.
“I think for now what we need to focus more on is to have a small training camp where we would analyze the video, note what we did right or wrong, correct our mistakes and there will be another ranking series by May where we are supposed to present our athletes to expose them ahead of All African Games.
I am also sure that our opponents from this tournament would do the same to analyze their mistakes when they go home. So we need more tournaments to test and prepare our athletes.  We hope that the government and corporate Nigeria can come to our aids so we can achieve more.”
Nigeria finished tops with a total of 195 points in the female category at the Africa Wrestling Championship in Tunisia.
The host nation, Tunisia claimed silver with 177 points while Egypt amazed 160 points to finish third.
