Chelsea’s youngster Tammy Abraham says he has not made a decision on his International future, but admit he’s fully aware of his Nigerian heritage.
Nigeria wants the 22-year to follow the footsteps of Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses to switch allegiance to the country of his parents.
England, on the other hand, have capped the player at the senior level in friendlies against Brazil and Germany back in 2017, but that isn’t enough to knock him off Nigeria’s radar.
Speaking after scoring his first Champions League goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday, Abraham squashed all the talks that he has chosen to represent England fully.
“I love both nations,” Abraham said. “To be wanted by both nations, clearly I’m doing something right on the pitch for Chelsea. I just have to keep going. My time will come.
“I’m not sure, I haven’t made a decision yet. I’m just focusing on the club now.”
He added that he knows his Nigerian root very well and claimed he’s not new to African Culture, in spite of living in England all his life.
“I’ve grown up in an area with a lot of African cultures and African background,” he said.
“Even in the changing room nowadays, we play Afrobeats and all sorts. So you’re fully aware that Nigeria is a massive country. It’s global.” He said.
