Captain of the Nigeria Cricket national team Joshua Ayannaike has stated that there is no regret whatsoever from the postponement of the Africa Cricket Association T20 championship which would have been his first opportunity to lead Nigeria after been named captain of the Green and Yellow.
Ayannaike speaking in a chat with brila.net said as much as he and others would have loved to play and represent Nigeria, they are equally aware and appreciative of the fact that the step taken is in the interest of the players so as to ensure all is safe which is also very well supported by the Nigeria Cricket national team.
“This has probably affected our momentum a bit but it’s still something we can’t bash at, we can’t take away this it’s a matter of safety, it’s a matter of health.
“If you’re not healthy you can’t play, you can’t be on the field. So we understand the importance of this in spite of any momentum it could have broken or disrupted, we still appreciate the fact that this particular step has been taken to protect the players.”
