No further injury concern in Super Eagles camp – Ibitoye

Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, Says the trio of Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong could not train with team yesterday as a result of traveling congestion and not fitness problem.

 

The three players were pictured at the British airport before arriving in Nigeria to join up with Super Eagles camp in Asaba as the teamstep up preparations for the important 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa this Saturday.

However, the players did not train with the team on Tuesday whichfuel speculation that they maybe nursing injury, but Ibitoye dismissed such claims.

“The coach excused them from training because they traveled all through the night before arriving at Asaba. So he allowed them loosen up which should not be a cause of concern. It was just a precautionary step,” Ibitoye said.

The players are expected to have a closed door training sessionstoday (Wednesday), as the team perfects its strategies before departing for South Africa on Thursday.
