‘No more abridged league please’ – Alaekwe Chijioke pleads

FC Ifeanyi Uba skipper, Chijioke Alakwe has described the abridged league format as one with a lot of challenges and urged the League Management Company(LMC) to revert to the regular season.
Speaking with brila.net Chijioke stated that he would want the LMC to ensure the abridged format is phased off as it does not allow teams to get the chance to recover when they falter.
“I would say the abridged league favoured us because after all said and done, we ended it in a good position and qualified for super 6.
“As for a review of the league, I prefer the default league because you have a chance to meet a higher number of teams that comes with a whole lot of challenges.
“As for the abridged league, you know the opponents and the challenges are way less.”
Chijioke equally spoke on the game against Akwa United which ended 2-1 stating that the Uyo based side displayed amazing quality all through.
“Akwa United gave us a good game because the game was an enjoyable one given the qualities of both teams. The joy was a massive one because the target all season has been to get a spot in the super 6. The squad is in a top mood and form, everything is great but as you know we can’t stop now but because we still have to give the super 6 our all.”
Chijioke then spoke of his goalscoring exploits saying he always prayed to score goals and he is happy to have scored in the final game of the season for his side.
“I’m happy I was also able to score because it happened just as I asked God. I told him I started the league with a goal that I would love to wrap it up with one and it happened.  I’m very happy about that.”
