NPTF expends N11bn on operational vehicles, security, medical equipment

The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF)
has taken delivery of police operational vehicles, security and medical equipment worth N8billion as part of the N11billion equipment already purchased.

This was disclosed during an inspection visit by the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi,alongside governors of Zamfara and Kebbi states, Bello mutawalle and Atiku Bagudu, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba as well as the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto and other dignitaries.

The inspection began at force headquarters where one hundred and twenty, out the two hundred Buffalo vans procured by the NPTF, were inspected.

Briefing the Minister and other dignitaries at the inspection, the Executive Secretary, NPTF said the 200 Buffalo vans cost over N7 billion.
He said that sofar, NPTF had received one hundred and twenty, out of the two hundred vehicles procured, saying the remaining vehicles would soon be delivered.

The supplied vehicles according to him were well equipped and rebranded while others are still undergoing rebranding to reflect NPTF colours and logo. Also inspected were one thousand and ninety Ballistic Helmets and six hundred and forty pieces of bullet- proof vests procured by NPTF under the 2020 intervention. Sokoto said the two items cost over N450,000,000

“The supplied security equipment have been tested by the police and found to be of high quality” he said.
Alhaji Aliyu also said, the equipment were procured from the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in compliance with Presidential Executive Order that local manufacturers must be patronized.
The last port of call was Muhammadu Buhari Police Clinic in Commissie Police Cantonment Area 11, Garki Abuja where medical equipment worth over N100,000,000 were inspected.
They include x-ray machines, theater equipment, drugs as well as COVID-19 kits purchased as part of 2020 intervention to police health sector.
In his remarks shortly after the inspection, Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi expressed optimism that the equipment would go along Way in making police efficient and effective. He reassured of government’s determination in addressing police needs so as to enable them carry out their duties deligently.
On his part, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba commended the NPTF for the intervention which according to him would help the Police Force in discharging its constitutional duties. “We the end users, appreciate the gesture”IGP said.
