Onyekuru not carried away with Galatasary success; targets improvement

Super Eagles and newly crowned Turkish League champion, Henry Onyekuru revealed that he was very happy to have helped his side win silverware while looking to achieve more as a player in his career.

Onyekuru scored the winner to fire Galatasaray past Istanbul Basaksehir and emerge as Turkish Super Lig champions.

The title holders had a mountain to climb heading into the clash with the visitors who were also in contention for the league diadem.

Having gone a goal down through Rijad Bajic’s effort in the 17th minute, the Lions needed a flash of brilliance from somewhere and found it in the form of their Nigerian import.

Speaking with www.brila.net, the former Eupen of Belgium striker stated that he is very happy to have helped his team win the title, “I’m very happy at the moment, but the target for me is to keep getting more goals and keep improving on my abilities as a player”.

“The goal I have is just to keep working hard, especially with the AFCON coming up, I need to see how I can develop and make sure I improve on my performances, especially with my country”

“If I can score in every game, that would really be great”, he concluded.

After helping Gala secure their 22nd league title, Onyekuru took to social media to express his delight.

The champions travel to Yeni Sivas 4 Eylul Stadium for their inconsequential last game of the season against Sivasspor.

Onyekuru boasts 14 league goals in 30 Super Lig appearances for Fatih Terim’s team this term. He is among 10 Super Eagles forwards invited for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations preparation camp.
