Oshodi backs Nigeria table tennis contingent to make up for team events failure

Vice President of the Africa Table Tennis Federation and International representative on the board of the Nigeria Table tennis Federation Waheed Oshodi has backed the Nigeria table tennis contingent to make up for inability to qualify for the team event of the Olympics with qualification in the singles and mixed double event next month during the Africa qualifying tournament in Tunisia.

Oshodi speaking in a chat with www.brila.net commended the effort of the players at the world qualifying tournament stating that the world qualifying tournament has the best top 15 in the world of the 20 countries in attendance and it was always going to be very tough for the team.
“First of all I must commend the players because the qualifying tournament in Portugal was a world qualifying tournament probably 15 of the top best 20 countries were there and to go head to head with Poland a top European nation I think they did well. We were very unlucky in the doubles match in the qualifying event there.
But they’ve got the big opportunity ahead especially in the single where I think that out creates strength lies and a month from now in Tunisia they will be there for the African qualifiers and I am very confident they will take the qualifying spots there.”
