Paul Pogba eyeing a Real Madrid move?

French World Cup winner Paul Pogba has admitted that Real Madrid is a ‘dream club for every player’ but he insists he is happy at Manchester United.

Pogba returned to Old Trafford in an £89.3million deal in the summer of 2016 but his fractious relationship with former manager Jose Mourinho cast doubt over his future at the club and he has regularly been linked with a move away.

He has looked a different player under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – he scored four goals in the first three games under the Norwegian – and, while he has praised his new boss, he admits playing for Real Madrid is a dream for every player.

“Like I’ve always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Pogba told reporters ahead of France’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Moldova.

“There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it’s a dream for anybody who likes football.

“For now, I’m at Manchester. We don’t know what the future holds. I’m at Manchester and I’m happy.”

After guiding United to within three points of third-placed Tottenham and the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Solskjaer is the favourite to be named permanent manager at the end of the season and Pogba believes the 46-year-old has proven himself to be the right man for the job.

“Of course we want him to stay,” said Pogba. “The results have been great. I have a great relationship with him; he has a great relationship with the players.

“When a player is happy, he wants to keep being happy. Solskjaer deserves it. He knows the club, he knows everything about the club.

“He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players. This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results we had before.”
