The suspects are attached to a private security outfit, Strongcity Security Services assigned to guard the Lawyer but ended up attacking and robbing him

Family members of the victim had earlier called on the police to fish out the attackers and bring them to justice.

The Command had on October 13, 2018, at about 5.30pm received information from a credible source that bandits held Barrister Joseph Mbadugha aka Prof McCarty Mbadugha, hostage in his office at JohnVic Igbanogo street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos; that the armed men were seen wearing Strongcity Security Services uniform.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, said based on the information, operatives from Maroko Police Station and Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS ) Ikeja, jointly mobilized to the scene.

Oti said that on sighting the operatives, the hoodlums ran in different directions to avoid being arrested but one of them, Edet, was nabbed at the scene.

He said that during interrogation, Edet led detectives to arrest his accomplice, Asuquo.

He said Interestingly, both suspects are the staff of Strongcity Security Services attached to the victim.

“They claimed the victim did not pay their salary as at when due, hence they planned with others at large to rob him”, Oti said.

He further stated that the suspects succeeded in dispossessing the victim of a bag containing laptop computer, N40,000.00, three cheque booklets, one iPhone-6.

He said the items were recovered from the suspects in the course of the investigation.

He said that the Commissioner of Police( CP ) Imohimi Edgal, has directed the head of the Command’s Intelligence Unit to fish out other suspects at large for prosecution.

He said the Command would want to clear the rumors making rounds on the social media that the lawyer was attacked by unknown assailants.

His attackers are well-known persons and two of them have confessed that they attacked him because he did not pay their salary on time.

In a swift reaction, the victim said he was not owing anybody any salary as he was not paying directly to the individual, but the company.
