The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four members of an armed robbery gang who shot a cleric and snatched his vehicle.
The gang specialized in snatching vehicles at gunpoint or stealing vehicles where they were parked; dismantling them and selling the parts to spare parts dealers.
The police recovered from the suspects, a Barreta pistol, three live ammunition of .9mm and engine of a Car they allegedly snatched at gunpoint
Anambra state police public relations officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, said,” on May 5, at about 11:30 am following intelligence, police operatives attached to the Command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested at different locations within Nkpor axis the following syndicate: Emeka Onyeomam,23, Chidiebele Amaluaka ‘m’ aged 22 and Ezenwaokolo Ikechukwu,20.

“The had on May 4, at about 2:30 pm allegedly lured Pastor Uche Iheme,41, of Awomama, Imo State, to a location behind First Bank Oyeolisa Ogidi and snatched his Toyota RAV4 SUV with number plate, GRE 170 AA, Samsung J4 phone valued N82,000 and $5000 US Dollars.
“The suspects equally shot the victim in his left limb and fled, leaving him unconscious in the pool of his blood. The discreet investigation also led to the arrest of their receiver Abuchi James,30, at Mgbuka Obosi, where the snatched vehicle was completely dismantled and sold out, but the engine was recovered.
“Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects include one Baretta pistol with three rounds of .9mm ammunition as well as the engine of the snatched vehicle. The case is under investigation after which the suspects will be charged to Court “.
