The Mgbuoshimini Community Development Council (MCDC) Rumueme, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has lauded the Nigeria Police Force for its efforts in killing Peter Daddy Chukwu for the heinous crime he committed in the area.
The community, in a statement signed on its behalf by Weli Nyeche (stakeholder and former Vice President-General), Princewill Adele, Iche Adele, Godfrey Onuoha Amadi, Livingstone Wechie, Ovunda Nyeche and Ezinwo Abraham Okocha, said the death of Daddy Chukwu, also known as Oboni, would restore security in Mgbuoshimini community.
In a letter of commendation addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, dated April 16, 2024, the MCDC alleged that Oboni had been declared wanted since 2017 by the Rivers State Police Command, for multiple killings in the community and other heinous crimes, including the killing of Ndidi Livingstone, Chairman, MCDC.
The community stated: “We, the leadership and stakeholders of Mgbuoshimini Community in Rumueme Kingdom, Rivers State, officially express our commendation to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, for bringing the notorious killer, Daddy Chukwu, a.k.a Oboni, to justice.
“We specially thank the IGP and the CP for this landmark victory, which has restored a strong sense of safety and security in Mgbuoshimini Community, Rumueme Kingdom, Rivers State. We also congratulate CP Tunji Disu for winning the Commissioner of Police of the Year Award from the Inspector-General of Police, as this did not come to us as a surprise.
“No doubt, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police has changed and boosted the face of policing in the state. We are not in doubt that the Inspector-General of Police, rightly and divinely, posted CP Tunji Disu to our dear state to fight crime and criminality, ensure law and order.
“Thankfully, the CP has religiously lived up to that expectation, particularly in our matter that was before now subjected to all manners of compromise and manipulation by some ranking officers in the past, including victimising and framing up some of our sons who fought to get justice, until he came to the rescue.
“We look forward to a more robust relationship with the Rivers State Police Command, to ensure that all the members of the notorious Daddy Chukwu’s killer network and their known sponsors are brought to justice and ensure the sustained security of life and property in Mgbuoshimini Community, Rumueme Kingdom, Rivers and the society in general.
“We specially thank the CP for his support and synergy with the Mgbuoshimini Vigilante, which is now fully on ground to help out in community policing, as we pledge continuous compliance with his guidance, rules and supervision.”
The MCDC emphasised: “Very importantly, as a community, we are inviting the Rivers State Police Command to come and take full possession of the two storey building being erected forcibly by the late notorious killer, Peter Daddy Chukwu, a.k.a Oboni. The building is in the community on No. 1 Oro-Akwor/Slaughter Road by the Comprehensive Secondary School Mgbuoshimini. We offer and present the property for permanent use as a police station in Mgbuoshimini community, Rumueme Kingdom, Rivers State.”
