Seychelles and Egypt game good for AFCON preparation – Ighalo

Super Eagles and Shanghai Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has submitted that the two matches for the Eagles against Seychelles in the AFCON qualifier and Egypt in an international friendly, will help the team as they look to have a good tournament in Egypt later this year during the AFCON.

Ighalo is part of the 23 man team invited for both fixtures, after just completing a move from relegated Changchung Yatai to Shanghai Shenhua just before the start of the new CSL season.

In a chat with www.brila.net, Ighalo added that he and the current Eagles squad will want to do better than players who have represented the country before them, as having a great tournament in Egypt is uppermost on every player’s mind.

“We are in a good direction, we just want to continue to work hard together as a team, not to feel relaxed just because we have gotten the ticket to the AFCON”

“Its one thing to qualify and its another thing to go there and perform and that is what we want to do”.

“We want to compete, we want to do better than what the Eagles before us has done in the past, I just want us to keep the concentration level high, and who knows – everything is possible”.

Nigeria have already qualified for the 2019 Afcon scheduled for Egypt in June after finishing and start preparation with a clash against the Pharaohs four days after they take on minnows Seychelles.

All the invited players, alongside technical and backroom crew, are expected to report in the Delta State capital on Monday, 18th March 2019.
