Sports Ministry Chief Arives Morocco, Charges Athletes To Remain Focused

Determined to cheer team Nigeria to medals finish at the on-going 12th edition of the Africa Games in Morocco, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Olusade Adesola, will arrive Rabat, Morocco on Monday, August 26th, 2019, brila.net can report.

The arrival of the Permanent Secretary will add impetus to the moral of the athletes as the gear up for fierce battle to win laurels for the country.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in his office, the Permanent Secretary said that he was going to Rabat not only to motivate the athletes and official but also to convey the goodwill message of President Mohammadu Buhari and that of the Sports minister, Sunday Dare to them.
“Yes, it is my delight that I am going to see them on Monday. When I get there, I will convey the goodwill of the Honourable Minister, Sunday dare to them.
On Friday night, we had an engagement with them where we commended them for their patriotism and charged them to remain focused on bringing medals to the country. That they should strive to win laurels for our country.
“I will also deliver the goodwill message of his Excellency, the Grand Patron of Sports in Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR to them. I will also charge the athletes to reciprocate the good gestures of his Excellency, who have provided funds to cater for their welfare.
“They should also realise that the Africa Games also serves as qualifiers in 17 sports for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. That means if you succeed in these sports, you have booked a place for yourselves in 2020 Olympics and participating in the Olympics will now entitle you to become and Olympian.
“There are a lot of benefits that go with it for the athletes. Quite a number universities in Nigeria are offering athletes in Nigeria who are Olympians free scholarship and so on.
These are benefits that cannot be quantified. I want the athletes to focus on the big issue and not on the crumbs that fall from the table. I want them to look at the future and work to build their own cathedral,” he said.
The arrival of the Permanent Secretary to Rabat will add to the number of high profile Nigerians and government officials who are in Rabat already to motivate the Team Nigeria.
