Recently, Abdul Maikaba and Henry Makinwa, coaches Of Plateau United and Katsina United respectively have joined voices to urge the NFF to make the nucleus of the age-grade teams home-based specific.

Replying for the NFF, the scribe of the Federation Dr. Muhammed Sunusi told Cornerstonenewsng.comthat the best players in the league always leave at the slightest opportunity.
“As far as the National team is concerned, you have to look for the best and if the best is based at home so be it, and if it is the combination of home and foreign-based players, so be it,” he said.

“But you will agree with me that players that are good don’t stay in the league here so, any player that is good at that level usually leaves once there is a call from outside.”
“This is why we are having the problem of not having a lot of home-based players in those age-grade teams. “he said.
