The Lagos State Police Command has said that it has handed investigation into the accident involving a Train and a commercial bus at the Oshodi area of the State.
The command also confirmed that their persons were injured in the accident.

In a statement by Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said ,” the accident that occurred today at about 7 .45 am there was an accident involving a moving train and two vehicles crossing the rail track at Arenal plaza, Oshodi. One Toyota Highlander with number FST 723 FL and Ford with number plate GGE 972 GE. Three people sustained varying degrees of injury and have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The accidented vehicles were removed from the track for ease of passage of other trains.

“The matter has been referred to the Railway police command for further investigation and necessary action”.


Earlier the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency ( LASEMA) Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that there was a train accident.


The LASEMA boss who remained silent on the casualty figure said the agency did all it’s best,” upon the arrival of the agency at the scene, it was discovered that a passenger motor GGE 972 GE had veered onto the train tracks while crossing the rail at PWD inward Oshodi and subsequently collided with a scheduled commuter train.


“The bus was then dragged along for a stretch of the journey before the train managed to come to a complete halt.
“The Agency was able to successfully extricate the passengers and note that there was no loss of life. Casualties have been provided with on-site medical care and discharge


“Members of the public, especially drivers of commuter buses are reminded to obey traffic regulations to prevent injuries and transport delays.
“The wreckage of the bus has been safely removed to allow for a free flow of commuter traffic, the statement said.
