Two Years ago Wenger prepared Fredrick Ljungberg as a His Arsenal Successor

Former Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger predicted the emergence of former Gunner Fredrick Ljungberg two years ago.

Wenger was shown the door at the end of the 2017/18 season after 22 years at the helms in Highbury and later at the Emirates.

But before the end of his final season at the club, the Frenchman had tipped Ljungberg, who had Coached the U15s, to use his experience at Arsenal.

The Swede took charge of Arsenal’s under-15s side in 2016, before leaving a year later to work alongside the Gunners’ former academy director Andries Jonker as an assistant coach at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

“We gave him permission to go, but with a promise that he will come back if there is a possibility to come back here,” the Frenchman told FourFourTwo in March 2017.

“Overall, I think it is part of his education to become a coach, to have this kind of experience.

“Hopefully we can use that later at Arsenal . Freddie has done extremely well with the under-15s here. I was in touch with him constantly during his experience there.”

On Friday November 29, Ljungberg was named as interim Manager after Emery was sacked.

The former Arsenal man will take charge of his first game on Sunday away to Norwich City.
