The director general of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Hon Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor, today hinted that the sufferings of Ubulu-Uku residents plying the Ubulu-Uku/Onicha-Ụgbọ Road will soon be a thing of the past as the state government has given a nod to the construction of the road.

The director-general of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Hon Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor, today hinted that the sufferings of Ubulu-Uku residents plying the Ubulu-Uku/Onicha-Ụgbọ Road will soon be a thing of the past as the state government has given a nod to the construction of the road.

Mrs. Mrakpor made this known earlier today when representatives of Cornerstone News Nigeria visited her office to present her with the award of Public Servant of the Year. She said engineers from the Delta State Ministry of Works have already visited the road for on-the-spot assessment of the extent of the project.

According to the director-general, the project will be captured in the state’s 2020 budget.
The approval for the construction of the road is a major development in the quest to link the ancient kingdoms of Ubulu-Uku and Onitcha-Ugbo, both in Aniocha South and Aniocha North Local Government Areas respectively. The road will boost agricultural and economic activities between both towns.
Presenting the award to Mrs. Mrakpor, Mr. Albert Uba, Editorial Board Chairman of Cornerstone News Nigeria, said the state of the Asaba and the rest of the capital territory since she became the director-general has created the right ambiance for economic, social, and cultural activities to be boosted.

Speaking further, he said the Best Public Servant Award is in recognition of the tremendous difference she has made in changing the face of Delta State.
Responding, Mrs. Mrakpor thanked the group for the award, promising that the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa, is irrevocably committed to providing a clement environment for investments to thrive.

She said the governor had long been concerned about the state of the Ubulu-Uku – Onitsha-Ugbo Road but had been constrained by the paucity of funds.

“By the grace of God, the road will be captured in the 2020 budget and both towns will heave a sigh of relief”,

Mrakpor said.
