Udeme who had since resigned his appointment from Udom’s team and defected to A PC, said on his hospital Emmanuel, that he was shot by gunmen numbering about Initially,

The gunmen stormed his residence near Itam in Itu Local Government Area of the State.

 

He said the hoodlums invaded his residence at about 1.15 am Thursday after scaling through the fence into his abode.

Udeme, a one-time chairman of Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state, said he was dragged aside to a corner of the premises and shot in the right thigh.

He survived the gun shot and he is being treated at a private clinic in the Uyo the

 

According to him , he was at home in company with his wife and four children when the gunmen broke into his house.

 

He said a distress call was made to security agencies who responded, but that the gunmen escaped when they heard the gunshots from the security personnel within the neighbourhood.

 

“Initially, I thought they were armed robbers ,so I told them that we don’t keep much money these days in the house, but that I had some money in the car but my attackers did not show interest in the money; rather they pushed me to one side and shot me,” he said.

 

Udeme who said the attack on him was politically State,called on security operatives to come to his aid as he expressed fears that some people might be after his life because of the political development in the state.
