Usman Abd’Allah Targets 8th League title with Enyimba

Enyimba are within sight of winning their 8th league title and becoming the most successful team in the competition, and it is an opportunity Usman Abdallah insists they can’t afford to let slip.
Speaking the 3-1 win over FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Monday, Abdallah revealed the team had two objectives in the Super 6; picking a continental ticket and securing the league title.
The last time Enyimba won the title was in 2015 inside their stadium and did so at the expense of Kano Pillars, and it looks like it history will repeat itself in Lagos.
Earlier in the day, Pillars entered the crunch fixture against Rangers with a point advantage over second placed Enyimba in the table, after 3 round of matches.
However, a 90th minute penalty converted by Godwin Aguda cancelled out Rabiu Ali’s opener to see the game end in a draw.
Enyimba on their part ensured they took advantage of that slip up, punished Ifeanyi Ubah and climbed to the top of the table with a point more than Pillars and a game left.
Should the People’s Elephants win against Akwa United; a non negotiable outcome according to Abdallah, they would have ended a 4-year trophy drought.
It surely will make them the League’s most successful side; with the extra perk of having won 7 titles in 14 years whilst on the other hand, Rangers laboured for 45 years to reach the same number.
