Victor Osimhen Chasing down Mbappe, Dembele on the Charts

On Sunday night at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, Victor Osimhen will have the chance to improve his goalscoring stat in the Ligue Un and close the gap with the top three.

Osimhen, who joined Lille OSC in the summer of 2019, has already scored 13 and has a 17-goal contribution in the league in his debut season.

The Nigerian is also Lille’s top scorer in this campaign, with Loic Remy coming in at a distant second with 6 goals in the league.

In the entire league, only Wissam Ben Yedder (18), Kylian Mbappe (18) and Moussa Dembele (16) have scored more goals than the young Nigerian Forward.

He’s tied on number of goals with PSG’s Brazilian star Neymar, but the latter has two more assists (6) than him.

Both are the only non-nationals in the top five goal scorers in Ligue Un so far this season.

Sunday’s game against Lyon will pit both Osimhen and Dembele, but it will also wear the coloration of a grudge match with the sides tied 1-1 in the head-to-head this season.

Lille secured an away win in the first-leg of this tie, but were eliminated from the Coupe de la Ligue on penalties, by Lyon.

Osimhen registered a goal contribution in both meetings, providing an assist in the Cup before scoring in the shoot out.

He also provided the assist that earned Lille maximum points in the league match last December.

Christophe Galtier’s side are currently fourth in the standings and six points ahead of seventh placed Lyon.
