WAFU Cup: Winning MOTM Award Means Nothing In Defeat – Sunusi Ibrahim

Nasarawa United winger and 2018/2019 joint NPFL highest goal scorer, Sunusi Ibrahim says he’s disappointed with the loss of the Chan Eagles to Cape Verde in the WAFU on Cup on Saturday.

Inspite of the bad performance from the team in general, Sunusi Ibrahim was the stand out player , scoring in 2-1 defeat to Togo in previous game, before he was voted man of the in Saturday’s 4-2 penalty loss to Cape Verde.

Speaking after the game, Sanusi said winning the man of the match award isn’t enough to take away the pains of defeat .

“The MOTM award means little to me compared to the joy victory would had brought to the team but as we all know penalty is a game of luck and the lucky side won, he concluded”.

Lobi stars Sikiru  Alimi opened scoring for the super eagles but a late strike from Cape Verde made sure the game was to be decided by the lottery of penalties as Cape Verde triumph 4-2.

Nigeria will return and start early preparation as they look to overturn a three goal deficit they suffered in Lome, Togo.
