WWE superstar Roman Reigns beats cancer!

Roman Reigns, whose real name is Leati Joseph Anoa’i has been absent from wrestling WWE since revealing in October 2018 he had leukemia, a condition he had been dealing with since he was 22, But to the delight of many, Reigns returned Monday night (Feb. 25th 2019) and said his treatment had been a “home run” and he was in remission.

Reigns had to relinquish the Universal Championship title after his announcement, last year.

 

During his appearance to a huge ovation from the crowd in Atlanta he thanked the wrestling WWE fans for their outpouring of support in his time of uncertainty, hesitation and even fear. Roman Reigns even went so far as to change his signature battle cry to encompass everyone who had given him strength and grace: “This is our yard.”

 

For Roman Reigns, it is a celebration of a battle well fought and a purpose renewed, Reigns said he will use his platform as a professional wrestler to raise awareness and support for those who find themselves in a similar fight to his own.

 

Reigns, formerly played football for the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars, admitted that the hardest time of his life was when he was first diagnosed with leukemia at 22, he said “I didn’t have a job, I didn’t have any money, I didn’t have a home, and I had a baby on the way, and football was done with me. The team that actually gave him a chance was the WWE.”

 

When he made the announcement of his Diagnosis, one thing was clear, Roman Reigns was ready to put up a fight as he said “By no means is this a retirement speech, I Will Beat This and I Will Be Back’.

 

Other sport personalities have recently beat cancer, In 2018, Former Wolves and Nigeria keeper Carl Ikeme says he was in “complete remission after a tough year and intense chemotherapy” following his diagnosis of acute leukemia in July 2017, Also, former Manchester United youth player Rochdale midfielder Joe Thompson revealed he had beaten cancer for a second time.
