The Secretary-General of Nigeria Customs Service’ Sports Unit, Samuel Onikeku said his dream is to unearth more beach volleyball players for Nigeria.

Onikeku stated this ahead of the first edition of the Beach Volleyball open challenge scheduled for 8th to 9th June 2019 in Abuja.

He said beach volleyball is getting more attention in the country, hence there is need to create more awareness of the sport.

Onikeku said, “I am organizing beach Volleyball competitive because I have the dream of discovering more players for Nigeria; it is an event that just needs two people in a team which makes it less expensive.

“The beach volleyball team in Nigeria has been doing well at the World Championships in the female category so the competition will bring more awareness and improvement for Volleyball players”.

He noted that Nigeria can dominate the sport at the World Level.

Onikeku said, “Nigeria has what it takes to rule beach volleyball in the world in the nearest future. With more program of this nature and more support to the Federation in terms of organizing competitions, the standard of the game will improve”
