Etebo Missing, Ezekiel Benched As Las Palmas, Deportivo Draw

By Johnny Edward:

Nigeria midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo missed Las Palmas’ 1-1 LaLiga draw away to Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Etebo’s absence from the game has fuelled speculation he may not be fully fit for the Super Eagles’ friendlies against Poland and Serbia in Wroclaw and London respectively on 23 March and 27 March.

Last Wednesday, the former Warri Wolves forward visited a specialist in Madrid on an injury to his quadriceps which he sustained last weekend against Villarreal.

Etebo was replaced at half time in that 2-0 defeat to Villarreal.

The 23-year-old Etebo has played seven games and provided one assist for Las Palmas since he joined on a six-month loan deal from Portuguese club Feirense in January.

On Saturday, Alen Halilovic’s third minute strike for Las Palmas was cancelled out by Raul Albentosa in the 23rd minute.

Etebo’s compatriot Imoh Ezekiel was an unused substitute on Saturday.

Las Palmas remain 18th in the Spanish LaLiga table with 21 points from 29 games, while Deportivo La Coruna are one point adrift in 19th spot with 20 points from the same number of games.
