Kayode Olanrewaju scored in the 53rd minute to level against Trabzonspor as Gaziantep snatched a point against the title chasing side in the 1-1 draw at the New Gaziantep Stadium on Saturday.
It was Olanrewaju’s 9th goal of the league campaign in 21 appearances and he proved the spoiler for Trabzonspor, who were hoping to finish top of the table at the end of match week 25.
The visitors had Anthony Nwakaeme and Mikel Obi started, but the latter was subbed off late in the game.
Nwakaeme, who has 9 goals this season in the league, was shut out by the Gaziantep defence.
Meanwhile, Mikel’s disciplinary continues to take a hit as the midfielder was was booked in the 42nd minute, picking up his seventh yellow card of the season.
The result put a dent in the title chances of Hüseyin Çimşir’s side as they were overtaken at the top by Basaksehir.
