Mixed results for D’Tigers at AFROCAN and World Cup test game

A Two-day road trip from Nigeria to Mali landed D’Tigers at the Palais des Sports Salamatou Maiga, Bamako only a few hours before their opening game of the AFROCAN against Kenya; the outcome was predictably humbling.

Kenya rolled over the patched up Nigerian team, most of the players had not been involved in competitive Basketball – on full court – for over a year.

However, the 81-69 points defeat betrays the determination and fight shown by Chris Ogoh’s side; battered and fatigued.

They’ll return to action Today in a bid to get their campaign back on track when they face DR Congo.

Meanwhile, the FIBA 2019 World Cup bound D’Tigers sealed a narrow 85-81 win over Dominican Republic in the first-leg of the double header scrimmage.

Both sides are preparing for the World Cup in China later this year. Nigeria Head Coach picked 15 players for the San Domingo trip.

He’s expected to involve a few more names in the 44-man list for the second-leg of the test game.
