Nigerian striker Austin Amutu leads Al Masry rout over Rangers

Nigeria’s second representatives in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup, Rangers International of Enugu continued their dismal form in the competition when they lost 4-2 to Al Masry on Egypt on Sunday.

 

Egypt’s Masry who maintained their perfect start to the African Confederation Cup group stage raced to a 4-0 lead , with goals from Nigerian striker Austin Amutu, Egyptian duo of Ahmed Yasser and Hassan Ali and Libyan Moftah Taktak.

 

Rangers got their first goal in the 86th minute when substitute midfielder Eziekwe Chinonso reduced the deficit for the visitors.

 

Chidera Ezeh made the scoreline respectable when he added the second in injury time, but there was no time to get more goals.

 

Masry, who defeated Nouadhibou of Mauritania 3-2 last week, are leading the group with maximum six points. Compatriots Pyramids FC face Nouadhibou in the other group match later on Sunday.
