Nwankwo to lead Weightlifting Federation after Yahaya’s demise – Olarinoye

Board member of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation Steve Olarinoye has stated that the Weightlifting Federation has officially informed the Ministry of Youths and Sports about the unfortunate demise of the Federation President Mohammed Yahaya who passed on after a brief illness last weekend.

Olarinoye speaking in a chat with  brila.net said the Federation’s Vice President will be the man to officially take charge of the leadership of the Federation in accordance to the constitution of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation.
He added that the members of the board have always weighed in with valuable contributions before now and said that they will continue to ensure they keep the flag flying in the smooth administration of the Federation.
“On our own part as a Federation, we have officially informed the Federal Ministry of Youths and sports to intimate them of what really happened.
The constitution is very clear automatically the Vice President will become the President. Some of us have been long in this business and the President was actually listening to us and things were moving fine. So by God’s grace we will make sure we keep the flag flying.”
