The Super Eagles have moved quickly to dispel reports of alleged discord among the Coaches, prompted by Jose Peseiro’s disregard for his Nigerian Assistants, during the Mexico friendly.
Second Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf insists there’s perfect understanding in the technical area and all opinions are considered valid.
The NFF appointed four technical support for the Portuguese including former Super Eagles star Finidi George, as first assistant Coach and included a match analyst in the crew.
However, several observers noticed Peseiro only consulted with his own staff during the match against Mexico, prompting claims the newly appointed Coach might already have reservations about the Nigerians.
But, in a clear the air interview on NFF TV, Tuesday, Salisu Yusuf debunked those views, and clarified the input of the Nigerian assistants during the Mexico game.
“It has been great working with him (Peseiro),” Super Eagles second Assistant Coach Salisu Yusuf said.
“Before he resumed, I had two different conversations with him about certain players, especially the home based and he appreciated it. And we enjoy working with him.”
“During the game against Mexico, we talked to him and he agreed with our suggestions and we made changes with the system and players. It paid off, but unfortunately we conceded an own goal.”
“So it’s step by step, as we are building many things,” Yusuf told NFF TV.
