Portuguese Captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal during Portugal’s 2-1 defeat to Ukraine on Monday .
Ronaldo reached the feat from the penalty spot but which was not enough for and his team-mates to earn a draw against the 10 men of Ukraine.
The 34-year-old has scored more career goals than any other active player in professional football including rival Lionel Messi.
This season, Ronaldo has scored 11 goals from 12 appearances for club and country, having scored four for Portugal during a 5-1 win over Lithuania in the European Qualifiers last month.
Ronaldo’s 700 goals so far have come from 973 matches – and he has scored at least once in 458 of those.
