Senong concedes Lesotho lost to a better ‘Super Eagles side

Lesotho coach Thabo Senong believes his team lost to a very good side in Sunday’s 2021 AFCON qualifying match at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru where Super Eagles were4-2 victors against Senong’s men.

The hosts who failed to score a goal in their previous two outings against Nigeria, raced into an early lead via Nkoto Masoabi’s 11th minute effort.

Alex Iwobi put Super Eagles on level terms in the 28th minute after he was teed up by Osimhen while Samuel Chukwueze made it 2-1 for Nigeria in the 34th minute nodding home Osimhen’s cross.

Osimhen then added two more goals in 75th and 84th minutes respectively, before Chidozie Awaziem turned the ball into his own net a minute from time to make it 4-2.

Reacting to the game, Lenong praised the quality of the Nigeria team and the determination they displayed to come back from a goal down and win.

“For me, i don’t have much to say about our defeat to Nigeria, i think to come back from 1-0 down to win is not that easy,”

“I will say we played against a very good team today.”

Lesotho have lost all their three meetings against the Super Eagles.
