Sikiru Alimi says losing the CHAN ticket was unfortunate

Chan Eagles forward, Sikiru Alimi has expressed his unhappiness following Nigeria’s elimination from the 2020 African Nations Championship in Cameroon but states that the team gave their best and really wanted to qualify for the CHAN finals.

The Lobi Stars striker who scored two goals in the game to hand Nigeria her first win in 4 games said the aim was to qualify for the Chan tournament and not on personal records, he told Cornerstonenewsng.comthat he was very disappointed with the final result as he was looking forward to showing his goal-scoring prowess in future games.

Alimi who was making his first appearance in the home-based Super Eagles team have scored 4 goals throughout the WAFU and CHAN games also called on Nigerians to Forgive the team.

“It was obvious what the problems were in the 1st leg, but we had enough preparation for the 2nd leg and it showed in the game all those that came out to see them knows we played well, we tried our best, unfortunately, we didn’t get the 3 goals we needed”
