The Manager of a Lagos-based Aluminum Company, Rehoboth Continental; Enterprises, Sule Mathew has been arraigned in a magistrate court on a two- count charge of conspiracy to steal and stealing with others at large.

The Manager of a Lagos-based Aluminum Company, Rehoboth Continental; Enterprises, Sule Mathew has been arraigned in a magistrate court on a two- count charge of conspiracy to steal and stealing with others at large.

 

During the trial at the Magistrate Court 2, Botanical Garden, Yaba, Lagos, the prosecutor alleged that: Sule Mathew and others now at large, between January 1st, 2021` and December 18, 2023, at No. 268, Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, Pleasure, Agege in the Lagos Magisterial District Holden at Ebute Metta, Lagos did conspire together to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015 while the second charge reads also that: you Sule Mathew and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal cash total sum of One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (150,000,000) property of one Benjamin Ozor and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 280 and punishable under section 287 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

In his submission, counsels to the complainant, Ikechukwu Chiaha Esq and Miss Ureshemi Olorife stated that the accused, Sule Mathew was a manager at Rehoboth Continental enterprises located at Number 286, Lagos- Abeokuta Expressway, Pleasure bus stop, Ile-Epo, Lagos owned by Benjamin Ozor. They alleged that it was discovered by the owner of the company, Benjamin Ozor that Aluminium roofing sheets worth 150, 000, 00 (One hundred and fifty million naira) had been stolen from the company factory.

According to the prosecutor, a discreet investigation carried by the owner of the company revealed that Sule Mathew conspired with others now at large to steal the said goods. The case was reported to the Divisional Police station at Elere, Agege, Lagos where investigations were conducted by the police into the case and thereafter it was charged to court 2, Botanical Garden, Yaba, Lagos.

During the arraignment, Sule Mathew pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him by the registrar of the court and he was admitted to bail on the terms and conditions that he will pay N20m bail bond, provide a land owner in Lagos, a senior community religious leader, two sureties while his international passport should be deposited with the court including affidavit of means. The matter was later adjoined till February 2, 2024.
