The Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Police Command, said it has rescued 14 kidnapped persons at Ukya village, in Nasarawa State bordering the FCT.
The victims were rescued by operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit and the Rubochi Divisional Police Headquarters in the continued fight against kidnapping at about 5:30 on Wednesday.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said the hostages who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their families.
Adeh, in a statement reads; “The combined team, acting on credible intelligence stormed a Kidnapper’s den located at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT, on sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire on the police operatives which resulted in gun duel, the police operatives nuetralised one of the kidnappers as the rest scampered to nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds.
The hostages, who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, reiterated his commitment to rid the FCT of criminality in all its manifestations and maintenance of peace for all and sundry.
